Quilters Gadget

It is true quilters need exercise; some may think that by getting up and down to iron the seams as they sew is the way to get it.  I prefer to keep my quilting and exercising seperate, by using this handy little gadget.  Of course every gadget has to have a name so I call this the “Table Clasp Iron Board” or “TC Board” for short.  These are handcrafted in my home by me and a very handy dandy fellow who got pulled into this venture by wondering one too many times thru my quilt studio only to hear “can you help me with this?”

The TC Board simply slides over the edge of your sewing station or table, a twist of the knob tightens the board.  Once you heat up your iron, you’re ready to get busy.  Start sewing together that next project and press those seams as you go while sitting at your sewing machine.  If you are a paper piece quilter, you will surely enjoy one of these items beside your sewing machine.  It is great to take along to retreats, quilt classes or any sewing get together.  The TC Board is large enough to use a standard size iron or for ease of transport try one of the various travel irons out there.

Now that all of those pieces are sewn together, it is break time and I can get some exercise going up the stairs to check out what goodies are in the fridge!

If you are interested in acquiring one of these boards, feel free to contact me via email  dlehmanbell@gmail.com and please use “TC Board” in the subject line.

  1. That really is a fab idea. I only have room enough in the kitchen for the ironing board so this means I can work anywhere else in the house! Just got to find one now. Thank you for sharing 🙂

      • How exciting! Can you let me know how deep the table top can be for the ironing board to fit over. ie my sewing table in the lounge has drawers underneath the table top. Not sure if that would work or not. Many thanks 🙂

      • The Ironing Board measures 16.5 x 8 inches, it is covered with 100% cotton over two base layers; one insul-bright and one cotton batting. It will fit directly on a table no wider than 2.5 inches. Or will slide with some rotation onto a table with a side trim of 3.75 inches or less; the side trim must sit no more than an inch back under the top. Weight 2 lbs 8 oz If you would like more information or to purchase one, please email me at dlehmanbell@gmail.com.
